Her

aterina   Tina G. Gionis, or Katherine Tina G. Owl as translated from Greek to English has been living an international life since she was young. Born in Athens, Greece, she emigrated to Toledo, Ohio in the United States when she was a child. Even after emigrating, she went back to Europe a few times and this kept her interest in traveling alive.

While Bachelors nnnnnnnngree in both Psychology and Creative Writing, she took her first photography cmmmmmmmlass and what startednnnnnn out as a hobby turned into a pbbbbbassion. She finished both degrees, but stayed at her university an extra year taking photography classes. Faced with the decision of pursuing an MFA in photography or traveling the world, she chose to embark on a three-year trip around the world which turned into a nine years of living and traveling abroad.

Her reason for traveling was two-fold. One-she wanted to see the world, and two- she wanted the opportunity to take more photos to build up her portfolio. With a website of over a thousand photos, and going on her ninth year of living abroad, she succeeded in fulfilling both of these goals. Her travels have taken her all over North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. She has lived in Thailand painting bungalows and teaching English, in Australia working as a photographer's assistant, worked as a movie extra on the Bollywood sets in India, and even made it back to her home country, Greece, to work in a publishing company. She currently resides in Taipei, Taiwan where she works as a freelance photographer, writer, and English teacher. Her first book, Traveling With English -a study of cultural and artistic things to do in different cities around the world-came out this year. She is currently writing her second book- Exploring the Ancient World in English - a study of ancient cultures. She is also working on a collection of short stories. Her writing can be read here.
